What is a menu group?

A section of your menu, such as Starters or Drinks, holding related items.

A menu group is a heading with items under it — the sections a paper menu already has.

  • Starters
  • Main courses
  • Grill
  • Desserts
  • Hot drinks
  • Cold drinks

Create one group per section rather than one enormous list. It is how people read a menu, and it makes items much easier to find.

How many to create

One per section your paper menu already has. Four to eight is typical. One enormous ungrouped list is hard to read on a phone, which is where most people will see it.

The group description

Use it for anything that applies to the whole section: serving times, “all served with salad and bread”, or “add 2 for a large portion”.
