Frequently Asked Questions
01How does your translation process work?
We use only human translators, never machines. On receipt of your order we assign your project to an expert translator who assesses it and requests any additional information needed. The translator then translates the project and delivers it for final proofreading and a review by a second expert translator before we deliver it to you.
02What qualifications do your translators have?
All of our translators have either studied translation at an academic level or have a combination of academic qualifications and real-world experience, and pass our qualification procedures. Our translators are native speakers with a deep understanding of the languages they translate into.
03How many languages do you translate?
More than 150 world languages and dialects, including many that are too obscure for other firms. We will translate any language with an oral and written rule set.
04Where are your translators based?
We work with translators in Toronto and around the world, primarily in North America, with others in Europe and elsewhere. This means a translator for the language you need is available at any time of day or night.
05Can you certify or notarize a translation?
Yes. Provided that you supply the original documents, we will have a notary public certify your documents on request. We also provide certified translation services in Canada and the US which come with a hard copy certification.
06Will my documents remain confidential?
Yes. We never share any document with others and are happy to sign a non-disclosure agreement on request - both the company and the individual translator working on your project will sign it.
07How do I get a quote?
You can fill out the online form and a representative will contact you to review your project, or call for a free quote. We typically deliver a quote in under 15 minutes; for the longest or most complex projects we call within 15 minutes with an estimate of when the quote will be ready, typically within one to two hours.
08How much does a translation cost?
Rates are based on the length of the document, the complexity of the project, the language to be translated and how quickly you need it. Documents requiring specialised knowledge or exceptional turnaround have those needs reflected in the rate. Contact us for a free quote.
09Is there a price difference between translating out of English or into English?
Yes. Because there are many more translators who are native speakers of English than of other languages, it is less expensive to translate from a foreign language into English than the other way around.
10How quickly can my translation be delivered?
Delivery times are based on the complexity, length and service option chosen. We complete most translations within three days, averaging 1,000 to 2,000 words per day. A rush service is available, including same-day options.
11What payment methods do you accept?
Cash, credit card, cheques (only from approved business clients), PayPal and wire transfers.
12How will I receive my translation?
In your preferred electronic format - most clients prefer word processor documents such as Microsoft Word, but we can also deliver as a PDF, an Illustrator file, or in most major desktop publishing formats, by email, fax or courier. A hard copy can be sent on request.
13Can you format my document for print?
Yes. For an additional fee we offer desktop publishing and document formatting services.
14What is the difference between an interpreter and a translator?
Interpreters translate orally as a speaker speaks, while translators work with written text.
15Do you ever use machine translation?
No. We only use qualified human translators on every project. Machines fail to grasp the subtleties of language and machine translations are often error-ridden.
16What happens if I am not satisfied with the translation?
Contact us immediately to let us know your concerns. We will work with you to resolve any issues and deliver a translation that meets your expectations.
