Services & appointments

What is the difference between a service and a menu item?

Services are things you do, with a duration and a booking; menu items are things you sell.

  • Service — has a duration in minutes and can be made bookable. A haircut, a consultation, a repair.
  • Menu item — has a price and optional dietary marks. A dish or a drink.

A barber lists services. A café lists menu items. A salon with a coffee bar could sensibly use both.

Side by side

  • Service — has a duration in minutes, can be booked, can be hidden. A haircut, a consultation, a repair.
  • Menu item — has a price and dietary marks. A dish or a drink.

Which you need

  • A barber, clinic or garage — services.
  • A café or restaurant — menu items.
  • A salon with a coffee bar — both.

Services are Pro and Pro Plus; menus are Pro Plus only.
